Erika supports her students in their practice no matter how they show up. She aims to help her students connect their bodies to their breath, and to move in a way that feels empowering and authentic to them. Whether it’s your first or 1,000th time on your mat, each practice is a new opportunity to breathe and to learn, and that’s what you’ll feel in Erika’s classes. 

How did you find your way to yoga??

I discovered yoga in my early 20s and at a point in my life when I was trying to figure out who I was as an “adult.” I feel so grateful to have found my mat at that time because it really supported my mental and physical health during a big transition in my life. Honestly, I cannot imagine my life without the support of my yoga practice – it’s one part of my life that has remained consistent year after year, and I learn so much about myself each time I step on my mat.

What should we know about your background?

I completed my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training through Modo Yoga International and have been teaching since September 2022. When I first signed up for teacher training I wasn’t completely sure I wanted to teach. I wanted to complete the training to learn more about the benefits, history, and philosophy of yoga, as well as to push myself outside of my comfort zone. However, after the first day of our practice-teaching lecture at training, I felt a strong calling within me to teach so I could share the practice of yoga that I love so much. 

What else do you do in your free time?

I love to travel and my favorite destination is a small beach village just north of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I also love casual bike rides, listening to podcasts, and reading books about the mind, our behaviors, and the human condition. I’m a big fan of iced lattes (in any season), fresh and dried flowers, and meeting people while learning about their lives and what makes them unique.
