your visit
What to expect when you practice with us
We want your first visit to our studio to be memorable for all the right reasons. We also get that going to a new place for the first time can be a little intimidating. But nobody wants to stress about going to yoga, so we made a little guide to help you understand what to expect when you practice at MÖV. Read on for the information that will make your studio experience full of good surprises only.
What you’ll need for class
Yoga Mat
Water Bottle
Towel
Breathable Clothing
An Open Mind
For class you’ll need a yoga mat, water, and comfortable clothes you can move in. We think those elements are ideal for a good class experience. Most students also like to bring a yoga towel to help with the slipping and sliding that can sometimes happen in our heated classes (a standard bath towel works fine too). Some students also like to bring their own locks to secure their belongings in the locker room.
If you don’t have any of these items or forget them, we’ve got you covered. We have yoga mats, yoga towels, and shower towels available to rent at $4 each. We also have a fridge full of water, coconut water, kombucha, and other fun beverages available for purchase.
Studio Etiquette
If you signed up for class ahead of time, we recommend arriving at least 10 minutes early so you can check in, use the locker room, and get settled on your mat before class starts. If you aren’t yet signed up, or are visiting for the first time, we recommend showing up 20 minutes early so we can take care of any administrative items – like completing the waiver – and show you around so you know where to put your shoes, how find the locker rooms, and where to fill your water bottle.
Another aspect of our studio etiquette is honoring quiet, technology-free practice rooms and locker rooms. That means all cell phones and devices should be left in the locker room during class and remain stowed away even while you’re using the locker room to help protect the peace and privacy of our students. Smart watches should also be switched to “do not disturb” so that notifications and alerts don’t accidentally disrupt the flow of class.
There’s no talking in the hot room before or after class because we know our students love to use this time for quiet reflection. If you’re eager to catch up with someone or chat, we invite you to connect in the sitting area outside of the hot studio where we serve complimentary tea after practice for everyone to enjoy.
Thank you for helping us protect the sacredness of our studio space by eliminating distractions and disturbances. We’re grateful to you!
How to get here:
We’re located at 3252-B W Lake Street on the west end of the Greenway Lakes Commons outdoor mall. There’s plenty of free parking available in the surface lot, but please be mindful of select spaces with restrictions shared with our neighboring businesses. Weekend and evening parking can get tricky as the lot does fill up, but there is an overflow lot behind Punch Pizza that you can use.

We get it – life happens! If you're running late, the first thing you should do is let the studio know by calling us at 612-920-3004. For safety, we secure the studio doors and typically don’t allow for late arrivals. If you’re already at the studio, please try to enter the classroom before class starts, doing so quietly and respectfully to minimize disruption to your fellow yogis.
If you know you’re not going to make it on time no worries – simply cancel your class reservation by using our app, or give us a call at the studio and we’ll free up your space for another student who might be on the waitlist. You can cancel your reservation for free up to two hours before class starts. Cancellations less than two hours before class incur a $10 fee, or a $20 no-show fee if you’ve pre-registered for class and fail to cancel altogether.
We totally understand that emergencies happen, so remember that you can always call us at the studio if you have any questions about the cancellation window.
During & After Class
When you book class with us, you get to reserve a specific mat spot in the practice room. To find it, look to the floor to locate the number associated with your reservation. Then, place your mat on the floor so that the top right corner aligns with your number.
Once in the practice room, you’ll find blocks and straps available for anyone to use. And our barre studio is filled with weights, resistance bands, balls, and other props to support you through class.
If you’re comfortable with physical assists and hands-on touch, let us know by placing a blue circle near the top right corner of your mat – you’ll find them in the white basket located just inside the door to the hot room.
Oh, and one last thing. At the end of class, place any props you borrowed by the door so that our studio team can clean them. If you borrowed a mat from us, simply leave it in the studio and we’ll take care of it from there.
If you don’t have any of these items or forget them, we’ve got you covered. We have yoga mats, yoga towels, and shower towels available to rent at $4 each. We also have a fridge full of water, coconut water, kombucha, and other fun beverages available for purchase.
Studio Amenities
We have two large locker rooms. Each locker room is outfitted with everything you need to get cleaned up, like bathrooms, showers, body wash and hair products, blow dryers and brushes, and lockers to store your personal belongings.
When it comes to our practice rooms, we have two spaces that support different class types. Our hot room is one of the best in the city, with infrared heat panels and humidifiers that have proven health benefits. This is where our MÖV Classic, Flow, Fit, and Candlelight Restorative classes take place. Our smaller studio is an unheated barre studio.
We’re particularly proud of our communal “living room” space just outside the hot studio, full of comfortable seating and complimentary tea where all are welcome to gather and connect before or after class. We encourage our community to congregate here or in our lobby, where there’s more seating, fun goodies to browse, and access to our marketplace (where you can purchase a tasty snack).
Frequently asked questions
-
Our hot room is heated to 100°+ degrees and our barre studio is heated to about 75° degrees, so it’s important to wear clothes that are comfortable, breathable, and easy to move in. Yoga-specific attire such as leggings, shorts, and tank tops are popular choices. In other words, wear clothes that can handle the heat and a good sweat!
-
You'll need a yoga mat and water when you practice with us. For classes in our hot room, we also highly recommend a mat towel or something similar to help combat any slipping or sliding that sometimes happens when we’re sweaty.
If you need to borrow gear, we have yoga mats, mat towels, and shower towels available to rent at $4 each.
If you forget your water, we do have a selection of hydrating beverages available for purchase. But most students bring their own bottle to class and use our filling station to take advantage of our filtered water.
-
You can sign up for classes through our website, mobile app, or by contacting our studio directly. Reserving your spot in advance is recommended, especially for popular class times. We think the easiest way to sign up for classes and keep track of the schedule is through our app, which you can download here, if you haven’t already.
-
We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes before the scheduled class time to find parking, check in, set up your mat, and prepare for your practice. Our instructors are forever grateful when students arrive early because it helps create a smoother transition into class and also gives you time to enjoy the quiet space we’ve worked hard to cultivate. Thank you for respecting the community’s time by arriving early!

We understand that life happens and you need the flexibility to cancel class every once in a while. We allow free cancellation up to two hours before class starts. You can do that by using our app, or by giving us a call at the studio and we’ll free up your space for another student who might be on the waitlist.
Cancellations less than two hours before any class starts incur a $10 fee, or a $20 no-show fee if you’ve pre-registered for class and fail to show altogether.
-
Beginners are always welcome – no prior experience or flexibility required! Our instructors offer modifications and adjustments to accommodate students of all levels, including those new to yoga, so feel free to let the instructor know when you check in so they can guide you accordingly. We believe yoga is for everyone and want to make your visit feel as supportive and approachable as possible.
-
Before class, let your instructor know if you’re experiencing any injuries, physical limitations, or are living with a disability. Our teachers are trained to provide modifications and alternative postures to make practice safe and enjoyable for everyone, though we do recommend consulting a healthcare professional beforehand. And please help yourself to our classroom props! Our instructors can show you where they’re located and can make suggestions for how to use them during class.
-
Classes in the hot room are heated to 100-103°F. The barre room is room temperature.
The number of students in the class can have an effect on the temperature inside of the room, and we know it can take some adjusting to get used to practicing in a heated space. That’s why we encourage our students to take rest, drink water, and move at their own pace.
If you’re feeling overheated during class, we recommend taking a resting posture like a child's pose, corpse pose, or any other position where you’re laying down on your mat. We find this to be a better alternative to leaving the room altogether, as standing might bring on dizziness and the dramatic change in temperature can actually make the adjustment harder.
Most people acclimate to the heat over time without issue, but hot yoga can be intense and may not be suitable for everyone. If you know you’re sensitive to the heat or have a specific medical condition that makes it more challenging, we recommend consulting your healthcare provider before participating in heated classes.
-
Our fully-stocked locker rooms are equipped with several showers, as well as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and other amenities so you can get squeaky clean after a sweaty class. And if you forget to bring a towel, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Just visit the front desk where you can rent a plush bath towel for $4.
-
Our locker rooms have plenty of space for your belongings. We recommend bringing your own lock to secure items, as we are not responsible for your belongings. If you need one in a pinch, visit the front desk to purchase a lock from a member of our team.
-
We allow 20 spots to be waitlisted for the Hot Room and 10 spots to be waitlisted for the Barre Room.
Up until two hours before the start of class, waitlisted students will be automatically added to class in the order they were waitlisted (you can check your spot on the app).
Once we’re within two hours of the class start time, the waitlist is no longer active. That means you won’t be automatically added to class anymore. We do this because we don’t want you to incur a late-cancel fee if you can’t attend on short notice.
This also means that the waitlist no longer applies, so if spots open up in class, they’re available to anyone to book. Be sure to refresh the app to see if a spot opens and be the first to snag it!

Booking a guest is easy, but has to be done via the web (vs. our branded app).
1) Simply navigate to this URL, sign into your MÖV account, and find the class you would like to book.
2) Click "Sign Up Now"
3) At this point you will be prompted to either Make reservation for "Myself" or "Someone Else". Select "Someone Else" and fill in the name of your guest.
4) Select the "Pay for this other Client" checkbox so you can use your guest pass. Click "Make a single reservation".
Now your guest is booked in the class! Make sure you email the studio (hello@movhotyoga.com) if there is a particular spot you would like your guest to have (spots aren't assigned for guests). ENJOY!

Great question! If you like the heat, we recommend starting with our MÖV Classic, MÖV Flow, and MÖV Fit formats.
If you're new to the heat, we recommend starting with MÖV Candlelight Restorative, MÖV Slow Flow, or Barre (which is in our unheated studio).
If you're new to yoga in general, we recommend starting with MÖV Candlelight Restorative, MÖV Slow Flow, and MÖV Classic (which is heated, but offers a minimal-flow set series that can feel more accessible as you're learning).
-
Students must be 18+ to practice at MÖV independently. Students 14-17 can practice at MÖV with documented consent from a parent or guardian who is 18+.
-
To maintain a respectful and comfortable environment, we kindly ask that cell phones remain stowed away and concealed in the locker room, both during class and while you’re using the locker area. This means NO:
texting
calling
charging
taking photos/videos of ANY KIND
We believe that the locker room should be a space where everyone can relax and feel secure in their privacy.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us create a peaceful atmosphere for all!

One of the ways we stay connected to our community is through our partnership with Simpson Housing, a local nonprofit dedicated to supporting and advocating for people experiencing homelessness. Our yoga community shares in Simpson's human-first, connection-first, compassion-first value system, working together since 2014 to weave closer community bonds and foster individual connections.
Each month, members of our community volunteer at the shelter to prepare and serve meals to Simpson guests, including a lunch service (11am-1pm), and dinner service (6pm-8pm). Any MÖV student is welcome to join us to connect with fellow yogis and community members (usually serving between 35-50 Simpson House guests). Simply sign up on the app as you would for a regular class at the studio.
All food is provided by MÖV, and a member of our teacher team organizes the event so they'll be with you during this two-hour commitment where you'll cook, serve, and take your work off the mat to support unmet community needs. This opportunity is a reminder that the work we do on our mat is for the good of all.
Simpson House is in the process of building a modern shelter, expected to be completed in the next couple of years. In the meantime all volunteer opportunities are located at a temporary location at 128 W 33rd St., Minneapolis, MN 55408.
