Katlyn’s teaching style is rooted in power vinyasa yoga and her classes offer students the opportunity to get lost in their moving meditation. She creates dynamic sequences that leave options for different body types and experience levels. In her class, expect a rhythmic playlist, hands-on assists (with your consent, of course!), and a safe space to explore and grow.
How did you find your way to yoga?
I started practicing yoga regularly at 19 when I lived on the Big Island of Hawaii. I found a tiny yoga studio without mirrors or modern comforts, and it was truly magical because the teachers were so supportive. I loved that I felt challenged to stretch and strengthen my body and my mind, all at the same time. In all the places I’ve lived, yoga has been a constant – I’ve found so much solace in knowing that I can step into a yoga studio almost anywhere and feel a sense of community and belonging.
What should we know about your background?
I completed my RYT 200 from CorePower Yoga in 2013 and started teaching right away. Since that time, I’ve completed various training and certification programs (I really love to learn and consider myself a student first and foremost!). I’ve also had the honor of leading 10 teacher training programs and guiding students in communities across Minneapolis, Portland, and Seattle.
What do you do in your free time?
I love to travel and experience new cultures – some of my favorite places include Japan, Vietnam, New Zealand, and Hawaii. That said, my daily life is much more grounded in routine. I’m an avid reader, love a good sauna/cold-plunge session, am way too obsessed with my dog, and will never stop raving about the breakfast sandwich at Marty’s Deli.
