Thanks to her fitness background, you’ll learn tons of strength-building activities that support mobility, conditioning, and alignment. When you practice with her, she promises you’ll “create more space to build intense JOY, then let it all out...while toning the abs, glutes and thighs too!”
How did you find your way to yoga?
The first time I took a yoga class was in 2001. I had an on-and-off relationship with the asanas for the next 10 years, then got serious about finding a way to maintain a consistent yoga practice no matter where I was living, or how much money I had. Gradually, I realized that a “yogic lifestyle” involves an emphasis on a holistic approach to wellness that encompasses all aspects of your life. For me, this manifests as a commitment to being physically active daily to properly integrate mind, body, and spirit. So don't be surprised to see me in classes often because I will likely be at the studio as a ‘student’ just as much as an ‘instructor.’
What should we know about your background?
My teaching style has been influenced by time studying and working in the fitness industry for more than 10 years as an instructor, trainer, and model in the United States and abroad. My interest in styles has varied over the years, from Hatha, Ashtanga, and Bikram, to Vinyasa and Yin. And I still habitually seek out ways to expand my fitness regimen on a personal level, and in the spirit of being a resource for my students as they discover their own pathway to health, inside and out. Teaching often involves listening more than talking and helping to guide others to the strength and knowledge that already lies within.
What else should we know about you?
If you say the word ‘dog’ within a 10 ft radius of me, you’ll end up seeing photos of my pup, Butter, who is so loving and a super cuddler! I’m also a huge fan of travel (I’ve lived in eight states and five countries to date), as well as books—reading them, shopping for them, writing them (the latter being my other occupation).
